Cutting Ties – 2026

Cutting Ties is part of a larger heavily political body of works in which I explore the tensions between oppressive and regulating historical and current laws and the defining and controlling of actual individual human bodies. Cutting Ties focuses on the tension between the current milieu of policing bodies through repressive reproductive legislation, especially for women, in which many women fight back through choosing for abortions or sterilization. This current development in many Western countries exists in a history in which Western colonial forces often regulated the bodies and reproduction of women of colour through placing unwanted IUDs and performing unconsensual sterilizations on women of colour.
