Visions is the first ever large tapestry on cotton I painted, made during my third year in the art academy in 2022. The scene is loosely inspired by the scene with the caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland, where Alice is told by a pipe smoking caterpillar that she should eat from the mushroom if she wants to grow taller or smaller. I was inspired by the psychedelic aspect of the scene and painted a scene of mushrooms with two versions of myself in it: an older, more ‘ancestral’ figure smoking the pipe and opening the third eye of the younger, seemingly lost figure on the ground, who is forced to see new things.
